Warcraft Paid
Character
Transfer F.A.Q.
Character transfers cost $24.99 / 19.99 € / 14.99 £.
per character. (Plus tax) This covers the character's ONE-WAY TRANSFER
to a new realm, new
account, or both at the same time.
Some realms (servers) are prohibited for incoming transfers
due to high population. Character transfers to low population
realms/servers are encouranged
and sometimes free.
Server types include PVP, PVE, RP, RPPVP.
You can move from PVP to
PVE, but not PVE to PVP.
Europe and US cannot transfer to each other.
Oceanic means US. No
transfer restrictions.
To
transfer between two accounts, both accounts must have the same
registration information. Everything must match except for account
name, password, email, and security question. To do the transferr, you
must provide the login name and security question of the receiving
account.
Why is the realm I want not listed?
- The realm is too full.
- It has been fewer than 90 days since the realm was
launched,
except if the realm was launched for the specific purpose of migration
- It has been fewer than 180 days since the realm was
launched and the realm does not have the gates to Ahn’Qiraj open yet
- You can not transfer from PVE to PVP.
- There might be an upcoming free character migration to this
realm.
Will the realm ever be available for transfers?
Only time will tell.
Smallprint. No realm that has the Ahn’Qiraj gates closed will
be eligible as a
destination realm for the first month after the launch of the paid
character-transfer service. After that, any realm older than 6 months
will be eligible as a destination realm regardless of the gates being
closed.
Standard Restrictions
- A characters mailbox and auctions must be completely
clear before that character can be transferred.
- A character that is the leader of a guild may not be
transferred as long as he remains the leader. If you wish to transfer a
guild leader, transfer leadership to another member or disband your
guild.
Character restrictions:
- Every character to be transferred has to be at least
level 10.
- Characters carrying too much gold are not eligible for
transfer, as follows:
- Level 10-30: 300 gold limit
- Level 31-50: 1000 gold limit
- Level 51+: 5000 gold limit
- An individual character may only be transferred once
every three months.
Realm restrictions:
- Transfers from PVE/RP to PvP realms are not allowed.
- Transfers from PvP to PvP realms are only possible if
there
is no faction violation. If you already have a character on your
desired destination PvP realm, then you will not be able to transfer
any characters of the opposing faction to this realm.
- You may only transfer characters to a realm as long as
you
will not exceed the maximum of ten characters per realm at your
destination once the transfer is complete.
- Realms that frequently have queues and/or regularly show
a
high concurrency may be taken off the list of eligible destination
realms to prevent overpopulating realms through character transfers.
- You may not transfer to a realm that has not yet opened
the gates to Ahn’Qiraj, unless the realm is at least 180 days old.
How do I transfer one of my characters to another realm?
Simply log on to the account management section, click the "Paid
Character Transfer"
Once
you have specified your transfers, entered the necessary information,
and confirmed the transfers, you will receive a confirmation email.
Also, the characters you signed up for a transfer will be locked until
the transfer finishes, which should take no more than five (5) days.
Think of it as your characters being "in transit". When the transfer
has finished, you will receive another email with instructions on how
to complete the process. Follow these instructions, and your characters
will be unlocked and ready to play on the new realm.
I signed a character up for a realm transfer, but hes still
on the
old realm and I cant play with this character anymore. Whats going on?
Character transfers may take up to ten (10) days. You wont be able to
play the characters you signed up for a transfer during that time, so
you may want to spread out your transfers a little so that not all your
characters are locked at the same time. Once youve completed the
transfer process, your characters will appear on the destination realm,
ready to continue your adventure.
I get an error message saying that my character still has
items in
his mailbox and therefore cannot be transferred, but I checked and my
mailbox is empty.
If you see this error message even after youve cleared out your
mailbox, then this probably means that you still have inbound mail that
hasnt arrived yet. Some quests generate mail to your character, or
perhaps someone sent you a package that just hasnt arrived yet. Simply
wait until the mail arrives, clear your mailbox, and try again. Contact
the in-game support if the problem persists.
Why can’t I transfer a character immediately after logging
out of the game?
After logging out of World of Warcraft, no character(s) will be
available for transfer for up to 20 minutes. After being offline for 20
minutes, players can begin the Paid Character Transfer process.
What if my characters name is already taken on the
destination realm?
In case of a naming conflict, you will be prompted to rename your
character after the transfer is complete and you log into the new
realm. This is how to get a free name changes. Other mmos usually just
put an X after your name and you have to ask a Game Master for help.
Is there any way to check the status of my character
transfers?
Yes. Log on to the account management section and click the "Paid
Character Transfer" button. Answer your secret question, and you will
then be able to access a page that lists the details of all your
pending, completed, and rejected transfers. You can also use this
overview to cancel pending character transfers before they are
completed.
How do I cancel a pending character transfer?
You can cancel pending character transfers on the character
transfer status page. Check the section containing your pending
transfers and follow the on-screen instructions if you wish to cancel a
pending character transfer.
If I dont like the new realm or change my mind, can I
transfer back?
Once you have chosen to complete your transfer, you cannot reverse
it. We strongly recommend you scout out your destination realm ahead of
time to ensure it is a desirable long-term environment for you, before
you initiate the transfer. The only way to move the character off the
realm again would be to wait 3 months for that character to become
eligible for another transfer.
What happens to my honor ranking and honor points? Will I
have to
start over from scratch on the new realm or can I keep my current
ranking?
Your rank and honor points total will be transferred along with your
character; however all of the current weeks contribution points will be
lost. Also, as your character will be inactive during the time it takes
for the process to be completed (which can be up to five days), there
is a possibility you could lose your current rank in the
Player-vs.-Player Honor System. Also, please keep in mind that should
your destination realm have a more active PvP community, you may find
that keeping your rank will be more challenging.
Will all my stuff be transferred along with my character?
Your character will arrive on the destination realm with all the
gold, equipment, pets, and all items in your characters inventory and
the bank. You will also keep all your bank slots, your lifetime honor
rank and your ranking points. Your quests will also be transferred, but
please be aware that the progress for quests that require you to kill a
certain number of monsters will be lost. You will either have to start
killing the monsters again after youve arrived or finish the quest
before you transfer.
Is there any discount if I am transferring more than one
character?
No.
Will I be able to transfer to Spanish realms when they open?
When the Spanish version of World of Warcraft is released you will
be able to transfer to select Spanish realms. Further details will be
revealed closer to the release of the Spanish version.
